Lake Kernan represents an opportunity for recreation and gathering spaces

The Southern University System Foundation has underwritten a new initiative to plan for the future of the university and surrounding community. Southern University and A&M College, the only historically black land grant university system in the United States, has embarked on a master planning process to provide a comprehensive plan that focuses on increasing enrollment and upgrading infrastructure, while expanding the university’s support of the local community.

Southern University has retained a team lead by the Center for Planning Excellence (CPEX), Louisiana’s only non-profit planning organization, to work with SU administration, faculty & staff, students, alumni, and community stakeholders to create a vision for the future of the University’s flagship campus.
